Evidence based nutrition in a Functional Medicine model

What is Functional Medicine? It’s thinking and linking - it’s connecting the dots between gut health, brain function, hormones, metabolism and inflammation.

Over the years working alongside Australian based Functional Medicine doctors, I've learnt that symptoms are often connected in ways that aren't immediately obvious.

  • Brain fog may be linked to gut dysfunction

  • ADHD symptoms may be influenced by sleep, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation or food sensitivities

  • Anxiety may be connected to blood sugar instability or stress hormone dysregulation

  • Fatigue may have roots in thyroid function, gut health, inflammation or nutrient depletion.

The process of identifying patterns and uncovering connections is what we like to call ‘thinking and linking’

Rather than focusing on a single symptom or diagnosis, we step back and look at the whole picture.

Where appropriate, this may involve reviewing pathology, functional testing, gut microbiome analysis, food sensitivities, hormone markers and other clinical findings to better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms.

The goal isn't simply to manage symptoms. Nor is it to apply one standard diet to one common condition - because the body is more complicated.

The goal is to identify the factors that may be driving illness and create a personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategy that supports long-term health.

Through a personalised gut-centred, back-to-basics approach, we’ll build a nutrition strategy that works for your life. Together, we’ll focus on:

  • Cognitive Support Using targeted nutrients like Omega-3s, magnesium, and B vitamins to enhance focus and mental clarity

  • Hormonal Harmony Stabilising blood sugar to regulate mood swings and support metabolic health

  • Symptom Management Identifying food triggers that may be exacerbating allergies or inflammation

  • Restorative Habits Creating balanced, enjoyable meals that promote better sleep and steady energy all day long

  • Autoimmune conditions Type 1 Diabetes, Coeliac disease, thyroid dysfunction

  • Metabolic Dysfunction Insulin resistance, stubborn weight gain, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Healthy eating shouldn’t be a source of stress. Let's make your nutrition simple, enjoyable, and truly empowering.
