Delta - Early Treatment Protocol

Delta Variant – what do we know?

  • Is a highly transmissible vicious variant.

  • Replicates much faster from time of exposure to first symptoms. Patients tend to get much sicker more quickly. A study done in China of 170 patients showed that the viral load in patients with Delta was 1000 times higher than previous strains.

  • Monitor oxygen levels regularly - Time from first symptoms to low oxygen levels occurs rapidly. The later you present to hospital the less well you will respond to treatment.

  • Heightened Vigilance as it is harder to get ahead of this strain of the virus.  The longer you wait to treat the sicker you will become.

  • Prevention is always better than cure.

What can we do?

  1. Prevention – prepare an at-home ‘Just-In- Case CoVid Kit’  just as you would have a First Aid kit (see early treatment protocol below).  You can take use the prevention protocol for as long as you like.

  2. EARLY EARLY EARLY treatment. I cannot emphasise this enough. Treat at first sign of a symptom even before you get tested.  There is no room for complacency and no time for delay, not even 1 day.

  3. Ask your doctor about a suitable anti-viral pharmaceutical treatment as soon as possible. Multiple peer reviewed studies show that anti-virals can be a game changer, even for long covid.
